GST Council eases tax rules for IT exports via foreign branches

The move addresses a major demand from the IT and IT-enabled services sectors, providing significant relief to companies that support global clients via their own overseas establishments. At its 57th meeting, the council removed the condition that the Indian supplier and overseas recipient cannot be establishments of the same person.
