Microsoft introduces Maia 300 for large-scale AI deployment

Microsoft has unveiled its third-generation Maia 300 artificial intelligence chip, announcing plans to deploy its proprietary processors across data centres at multi-gigawatt scale from 2027 as it seeks greater control over the cost of running AI services. The company said on Monday that the new accelerator would become the principal system for AI inference across its products, including Copilot,
